How to install RebornOS
The latest available installer (based0 on chcni) is: Reborn-OS-2019.07.31-x86_64.iso
It can be obtained from the RebornOS download page at SourceForge:
If you have a UEFI computer, you must disable "secure boot", otherwise RebornOS will not be installed. How do you do it? You will need to refer to your computer manufacturer's BIOS information to see the steps to follow (the manufacturer's website is a good place to look).
cnchi is a modification of the Antergos installer. In previous versions, we had to remove the repository of Antergos, once the installation was finished. Now, this is not necessary, since the installer does not use the repository anymore.
To run it (and see possible errors), you can run the installer from the terminal, with:
If LibreOffice, Firefox, or Thunderbird is selected for installation, their respective languages will also be installed (depending on the language chosen in the installer). To install the correction languages, select the "Spell Check" option.
The Printing Support and AUR options are working correctly.
To see many of the installation options on the "Feature Selection" screen, at the bottom left, click where it says "Show advanced features".
During the different screens that will be shown, in which it will allow us to select the mirrors to be used by the installer ("Mirrors Selection"), it will be necessary to use only the last two options: Leave the mirrorlist as they are, or Manage the mirrors list manually (advanced). Why? Because the option "Let Cnchi sort the mirrors lists (recommended)" does not currently work (requires revision); if selected, several installation errors will occur, since the RebornOS mirrors will be removed, and the installer will not find many of the necessary files.
The aim is to allow the RebornOS user to install it while the new "Fenix" installer is being developed.
It will be trying to improve, and solve the desktops that do not install yet.
Desktops that can be installed:
2. Apricity (Gnome)
9. Pantheon (Cinnamon based)
Deskstops that cannot be installed:
1. Windows interface (Cinnamon based)
qt5ct was removed from the Deepin installation. Now the blue icons will not appear in the dock once it is accessed. And file-roller was added.
i3 installs... Buthave to dedicate more time to it (does it work?)
In XFCE some missing ones were added.
MATE installs, and it works, but the panels show the mixed items (you have to fix it from the terminal with "mate-panel --reset --layout default". We will try to solve it so that it is not necessary to intervene from the terminal.
Windows interface does not work, due to incompatibility of applets with the new version of cinnamon, and the absence of some files. Remains to review.
